A friend of mine shared this article recently with me, and I think it bears re-sharing.

It's an open letter to their kids about the nature of Santa Claus and God, and while we don't subscribe to the Santa Myth (we are Jewish, and while we are not particularly religious, it seemed neither wise nor right to join in) I love this article's take on it.  We live in an interconnected web of life, and those make up god, and Santa, and pretty much everything else)

My son is 5, and I am not sure if I'm ready to have this talk with my kid (although based on his questions about god, about death, and yes, even Santa, he might be ready)  I'll be thinking a lot about this article as I think about how to explain this stuff to him.

Also, the fact that I can't really pull candy out of his ear.
